Throwback Thursday Featuring George Jones – “He Stopped Loving Her Today”

Nobody who listens to country music should not know about George Jones and his song “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” It was released in April of 1980 as the lead single from his album “I Am What I Am.” It was written by Bobby Braddock and Curly Putman and was George’s first number 1 single in six years and it stayed at number 1 for 18 weeks. This hit won him the Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 1980, ACM awards for Single and Song of the Year in 1980 and the CMA Song of the Year in both 1980 and 1981.
