When you want to get something so good and make it just right it takes time. I have listened to this perfect release a few times over and know it was so worth this wait. Country artist, Darryl Worley, known for his true country sound, his familiar twang and the need to get it done right, is back with a new single, “Lonely Alone.” The first song made available for an upcoming album that he is working on. ... read more!
CMM’s latest thoughts on new music!
I have always been amazed by songwriters. The ability to inspire, move or entertain you in a three minute story is an incredible feat. John D. Loudermilk was certainly one of the best at the craft. Whether it was rock, pop, country or somewhere in between, he wrote songs that touched the lives of so many and will continue to do so for years to come. He had his songs recorded by legendary artists such as George Jones, Anne Murray, Conway Twitty, Willie Nelson, Norah Jones, Jay Z, and Roy Orbison, just to name a few. ... read more!
Fresh off being recognized on nearly every “One to Watch” list for 2017 including Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You need To Know,” Runaway June is without a doubt the most important new group to hit country music. At a time when the “Group” section in the genre’s award shows are… well… meager, it’s refreshing to know that there is at least one new group making headway in the genre. ... read more!
Jenny Gill has been singing since she was a little girl so the release of her EP “The House Sessions,” is particularly sweet for the singer/songwriter. This project features 6 songs, 5 of which are written or co-written by Jenny and recorded in her dad’s home studio affectionately called “The House.” While Jenny has been on plenty of stages singing background vocals for her dad, Vince Gill, and her step mom Amy Grant, this EP is finally her turn to take the bull by the horns and jump into center stage. Fans that have seen her sing live have been clamoring for this release and it is no wonder why. Jenny isn’t just the daughter of a famous singer, she is a talent in her own right and this EP BEYOND demonstrates that. ... read more!
Travis Tritt IS truly the man…. Ok, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, on to the review at hand. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Travis Tritt, so I was really excited when I read he had a new record. A Man and His Guitar: Live From the Franklin Theatre, coming out. There is a bit of controversy surrounding the singer these days, after comments he made in regards to Beyonce’s performing on the 50th CMA awards show. ... read more!
First things first, I have to admit, I’ve never been a RaeLynn fan. I remember watching her on The Voice, and thought she was cute and kind of like a watered down, baby Miranda Lambert. She seems like a sweet young woman with a fun personality, but as far as her vocal abilities go, I’ve never been impressed. I’ve felt that she needed more coaching and to achieve more control over her vocals. I’ve always said that she has a unique voice, one that could really be something will more practice and precision. I’m also not a huge fan of her sound, but then again, that’s probably more Big Machine pushing the current trends than her. All that said, I will give credit where credit is due. RaeLynn seems to be coming into her own and learning how to properly use her voice, at least that’s what I hear when I listen to her new single, “Insecure”. ... read more!
