Country Music Matters made a strong presence this year in Nashville for the annual Country Radio Seminar (CRS) held downtown at the Nashville Convention Center from February 25-27. After our media credentials were approved I knew I had a daunting task of setting up time with artists, giving each one all the attention I could in the allotted time frame, making sure my “homework” was done giving me knowledge into the background of each person and making sure the visit was fun, insightful, and comfortable for all of us especially the artist. I have come to appreciate online internet country radio over the last few years, hearing and learning about so many new artists that I would not normally hear on mainstream Top 40. Not to say mainstream radio is without it’s qualities, but to hear about some artists taking their steps up the ladder one has to look for other avenues.
