I was recently talking about the Dixie Chicks with a friend, shortly after hearing the news that Taylor Swift brought Natalie Maines onstage during one of her concerts to sing “Goodbye Earl”, which renewed my interest in the Chick’s music. I went back through their music catalog, including the dark comedic “Goodbye Earl”. I decided that I wanted to feature a Dixie Chick video for CMM’s next Throwback Video Thursday, but which one? Johnny Cash is one of the most well-known singers in music. Cash is the Ultimate Legend. Known as The Man in Black, Cash left a lasting mark on music as a whole. He called the country music genre home, all the while dabbling in the rock and roll, gospel, and folk genres. Johnny Cash is not only my favorite artist, but was also a huge influence on my life as a whole.
