I have admired, respected and enjoyed all her music. If you don’t want to know the answer to a question, don’t ask Ashton Shepherd, cause she will tell you the solid truth of what she thinks, and the way she sees things yet still hold that twinkle in her eye.
We had not visited with Ashton since 2016 but have stayed in touch. I will tell you this much; it was like we jumped back on where we left off. Her songwriting skills and singing talent have no bounds and she is back to bring it all around in a fresh rejuvenated start.
After taking some time away she is ready to bring back who we have all missed, one of the solid Ladies of real country music. Ashton announced “The Country Roots Tour” with long time friend and artist, Nathan Stanley, who is the grandson of the late iconic champion of Blue Grass, Dr. Ralph Stanley. Some dates have been set, but a full schedule is not finalized
The south Alabama native has a list of hit songs on her resume such as, “Sounds So Good,” “Takin’ Off The Pain,” “Where Country Grows,” and my favorite, “Look It Up.” Ashton has always remained true to who she is and what she believes in musically and personally. She has a massive fan base that she enjoys engaging with and who love her spirit and soul.
Her last album, “Out Of My Pocket” was released in June of 2016 and was given great reviews and praise, it was in true Ashton style. She also dabbled in her own cooking show, “Cookin’ Country” in 2013 with some good old down-home recipes. Ashton still frequently shares some cooking on her Facebook page and it entices me to give ‘em a try. If you ever get a chance, ask her about, ‘pork gravy,’ and it will make your mouth water.
Ashton was part of our CMA Fest this year and I was so anxious to see her again, get that hug, and listen to the truth about her career, her life and how she sees things. NEVER a dull moment when this firecracker is lit.
