Having artists come to Nashville from the UK always brings me back to my love for The Beatles. They took the leap to bring their talent and style to the US for all to enjoy. Meeting Sarah Lawton fit into that thought process. She is a new comer to us but not to Nashville.
Sarah has been in Nashville since 2014, bringing with her some big accolades. She was awarded the “Best Female Vocalist” of Yorkshire, won the Mercury Performers Award and Semi-finalist out of over 15,000 applicants in the UK Song Writing competition with her song, “Superhero.” So obviously her songwriting and stage presence are skills she has honed.
On her current album, ‘Sticks and Stones’, Sarah co-wrote all of the songs and released the title track on June 1st along with a video. She keeps busy writing and playing legendary Honky Tonks around Nashville, such as Tootsies and Rippy’s with her full band. As I listen to her music I see the spunk and sparks like Kellie Pickler, yet a sound that remains true to who Sara is.
With every female country artist there are steps and hurdles that I see getting easier and Sarah can hang with the best of them. We were happy to meet her and chat for a while. I hope you can enjoy her as much as we did and keep her career on your radar.
