Getting the opportunities to meet new artists is what we consider gifts to ourselves. This year at CMA Fest we touched down in town, then hit the ground running. Entering in on our first day, was Lexi Larsen, the CMA’s Artist to Watch in 2014. After listening to her music and spending time with her we understood why.
The Nebraska native is not really new to country music, yet still new enough to continue to work hard as an independent artist in this jammed packed genre. Lexi can stay in step with any other female artist who is making their stance known amongst the mostly male dominated field. From the Galaxy of Stars Search to the regional Colgate Country Showdown, Lexi has been building a solid fan base across the country. Her pumped up shows, her soulful voice and exquisite song writing keeps them coming back.
Her 2014 debut album ‘Good Memories’ was funded through Kickstarter with the help of that fervent fan base. Before the deadline she had exceeded her goal. Lexi self-penned songs like “He’s On A John Deere,” “Something About A Sunday” and her first single “You Can Leave” which charted on the BIllboard country chart and was played nationwide on over 150 radio stations. Last year she kept things alive by releasing her EP ‘Shakin’ featuring three songs she co-wrote.
Lexi has been honored to open for some of the biggest names in country music, such as Phil Vassar, Ronnie Milsap, Dwight Yoakam and more. She stays busy with touring and writing as well as being a brand Ambassador for Durango Boots. CMA Fest this year was a busy one, but we grabbed some of her time to get to know her, here about her plans and more. Sit back and enjoy Lexi Larsen.
