International Multi-Talented Irish Artist Mags Earns Three-Month 12th And Porter Residency In Nashville

Not all music starts out in Nashville, but much of it makes a mark there. Mags, an Irish pop-rock/country crossover vocalist, dancer and multi-instrumentalist has landed a three-month residency at 12 & Porter which began on Wednesday Feb. 21 with two shows in front of industry VIP’s, media and fans from across the country. The accomplished singer-songwriter, and her talent to perform at high speed, traditional Irish tap dancing while playing a fiddle has earned her many accolades.

Megs was raised in County Cork, Ireland and was brought up with a music education beginning at age four where she was first introduced to Irish dancing. She joined the world-renowned Irish dance troupe, Rhythm Of The Dance performing in front of millions in over forty countries as a principal lead, including a performance on stage with Dolly Parton at Dollywood and for President and First Lady Obama in the White House.

“I am so happy with all the folks who came to my shows! I was totally delighted to have my friends and fans here to celebrate my Nashville debut, many traveled so far to be a part of last night,” exclaimed Mags. “Nashville to me is like being back home in Ireland. People have been so wonderful and welcoming. The musicians in my band have all toured with major artists and I am beyond grateful to them.”

I will be honest here and admit I had not heard of this young lady till she was recently brought to my attention. Listening to her crystal-clear voice, watching her energetic dancing and hearing that fiddle is quite the package of talent. During late April 2016, Mags traveled with her manager/producer and creative partner to Nashville. Their main objective was to complete lead vocals and various instrumental overdubs on sixteen new recordings. Of these selections, two were new arrangements of songs written by celebrated music stars, Dolly Parton (Light Of A Clear Blue Morning) and Scotsman Dougie MacLean (Caledonia). All other tunes were composed by Mags and her producers, joined in some instances by several very talented third-party writers.

The reception to the new ’Mags Sound’ has been extremely gratifying. 2018 promises a busy schedule for Mags, as she performs in Nashville to share her talents and pursue her dreams while taking her music career to new levels. The Nashville residency continues at the historic 12th & Porter music venue in Nashville, with two remaining nights of performances on March 14 and April 4, and she’ll be announcing more performance dates in the near future.
