Sunday, May 14th is Mothers’ Day, so I wanted to dedicate these songs by Mark Chestnutt, Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood to all the moms out there. A couple of them are sad, but they all remind us to appreciate mom for all she does.
Mark Chesnutt’s “She Was” was written by Jimmy Melton and Neal Coty. It was released in February 2002 as the lead-off single from his self-titled album. The song peaked at No. 11 on the United States country music chart.
Blake Shelton’s “The Baby” was written by Michael White and Harley Allen. It was released in October 2002 as the lead-off single to his second album, “The Dreamer.” The song became Blake’s second No. 1 hit.
Carrie Underwood’s “Mama’s Song” was released in November 2010 as the fourth and final single from her third studio album, “Play On.” Carrie wrote it along with Kara DioGuardi, Marti Frederiksen, and Luke Laird. It reached No. 2 on the country chart and the video features both Carrie’s husband Mike Fisher, and her mother Carole.
You’ll really be missing out if you don’t check back next Tuesday for our Triple Shot.
