Not all country talent is residing in Nashville. Every state has its Music City and local country singer songwriter Kathryn Cloward has made San Diego, CA hers. She is the creator, author, and songwriter of the “Kathryn the Grape” series of award-winning children’s books and music CD’s. The series features and “everyday girl” who helps kids of all ages develop self-love. In 2015 Kathryn released two albums, “Free To Fly,” and “A Soft Place To Fall,” to rave reviews.
Both albums earned several trophies at the 2015 West Coast Country Music Association Awards, winning Traditional Country Album of the Year (A Soft Place to Fall), Traditional Country Song of the Year (“Lightning Love”), and Traditional County Female Vocalist and Traditional Country Female Entertainer of the Year. I recently had the pleasure of seeing Kathryn perform in Vegas at a “Nashville Unplugged” show and was immediately drawn in.
Kathryn’s passion for her craft is obvious in each song she brings to you. “Only One Dreaming” is upbeat and something we are all guilty of, dreaming of how it would be if we had landed “The One.” In “The Healing Road” we are led to learn what choices we make when we fall. There is a soul searching path revealed in the lyrics. Get your two-stepping revved up for “Free To Fly,” and learn not to be boxed in, stand your ground and stay true to who you are. Set no limits on what you can do and master the possibilities.
When you hear Kathryn song’s you know you are enjoying some real true well written lyrics that you learn from and have fun with. It is always important to support local artists; it can make all the difference in the world to know you appreciate their talent and enjoy what you hear. They all start somewhere.
