You will find nothing flashy about singer songwriter Kip Moore. The fire in his spirit, the roughness but yet at times smoothness of his voice is reminiscent of a younger Bruce Springsteen. There is passion, conviction and true story telling in his words. On the heels of his soon to be released album, “Wild Ones,” on August 21st, I think it only fitting to select a strong cut, “I’m To Blame,” for our Music Video Monday spotlight.
While still in high school he started playing his brothers guitar, but his focus was still on sports. He played point guard for Wallace State’s basketball team and also played on its golf team in Hanceville, Ala., for two years and then transferred to Valdolsta State University on a golf scholarship. But music became a growing passion.
After a time spent in Hawaii, he embarked on a journey to Nashville in 2014 where he immersed himself in the songwriting community just as an observer till he felt he was ready to join in. After four years of local performances he got a break by signing with MCA Nashville where he released his debut album, “Up All Night.” Once the first hit from the album, “Somethin’ “Bout A Truck,” hit radio he was on his way towards his vision of what he wanted to do with his passion.
“Everybody’s experience is different, but I do believe it has to be the only thing,” he says. “I don’t think it can be a gray line. Either you want it and there’s nothing else or it’s not going to happen.”
Kip Moore is that rough around the edges sort of artist, yet has honed his skills to continue to bring new music which will in turn be No. #1 hits. His highly anticipated upcoming album has fans and the country music industry anxious to continue with him on his road to success.
