Country Music Matters’ Top Five Songs of 2014

With so many songs coming out over the course of the year it is always hard to pinpoint the five that really won me over. Of course there are many that rise up and come to mind, but I have decided these five songs really caught my attention because they either meant something to me, made me feel something, were unique, or held up the flag for traditional sounding country music.

The criteria I used was:

The song was on an album, EP, or a single that came out in 2014 and it didn’t necessarily have to be a single although most of them were.

Take a look at the picks below and then leave us a comment and let us know your top five songs of the year!

Listed in no particular order…

1. Carrie Underwood’s “Something in the Water”

2. Jennifer Nettle’s “That Girl”

3. Vince Gill and Paul Franklin’s “I Threw Away the Rose”
